Royal Windsor

A group of NICDA supporters traveled to Windsor to what turned out to be a fantastic weekend.
The week started wet but Friday, Saturday and Sunday was dry with plenty of sunshine.

Barry Capstick, the only Irish competitor, finished in 2nd place overall. He went into the cones as the” overnight leader” ahead of former World Champion Harrie Verstappen but, driving his spare horse, had 4 cones down and some time penalties to finish  behind the eventual winner in the Horse Pairs class – Harrie Verstappen but ahead of the Swiss master Beat Scheck. Tynan Report and Pics.

A warm sunny welcome greeted the competitors on Saturday morning at
Alwyn Morrisson home on the Breaghey Rd., Tynan, Co. Armagh.(Some competitors made the journey a day early and enjoyed a BBQ and good nights craic.)
As one entered the field the colourful  obstacles & cones looked great in the sunshine.
The marathon section which went round the narrow roads and fields was very
scenic, while the cones & obstacles proved challenging & entertaining for the
competitors.
After the prize giving Ian Campbell (Vice Chairman), thanked
Alwyn & Lisa for a great event, and for their warm hospitality & the delicious
“B.B.Q”.. In return Alwyn thanked all those who had helped prepare for the event and all those who helped on the day. A “F” day, it was meant to be (according to Sara) & certainly a  ” Fun Day “ was had by all.

Millershill Indoor Sunday 1st April

The Campbell family would like to thank all competitors and spectators who attended todays event. Thanks also to Millershill Equesterian Centre for the use of the venue. It was a good turnout for the last of the indoor events.Food Hampers were presented to the stewards for all there hard work over the past 4 weeks.

Report from PRO: Jemma Logan
On Sunday 01 April, competitors from across Northern Ireland gathered at Millershill Equestrian Centre for the finale of the indoor driving league. It was a tense wait for competitors as honours in many of the classes could be swayed by just one ball down or one wrong turn.
In the pony class Judith Lyttle combined speed and precision to take the top spot on the day; however this was not enough to topple Jim McCoosh from first place in the league.
Unfortunately for Alwyn Morrison luck was not on his side when a pole strap became undone during his first round. Although he did not incur points for this it affected the rest of his round as he had to finish at a much lower speed than he is accustomed to.

Todays prize winners were as follows:-
Pony Class:   1st Judith Lyttle,  2nd Jim McCoosh ,  3rd Edward Goodwin.
Horse Class: 1st Dorothy Kelly, 2nd Edmund Bryson,   3rd Alex Bryson.
Pony Pairs:    1st John Goodwin 2nd Rachel Campbell 3rd Alwyn Morrison.
Juniors:          1st Rachel Campbell, 2nd Eddie Goodwin, 3rd Keith Morrison

Overall Winners:-
Pony Class: Jim MCCoosh
Horse Class: Alex Bryson
Pony Pairs: Alwyn Morrison
Juniors: Rachel Campbell

Now we are all ready for the outdoor events, 1st being Micknanstown 2DE  (Judith McKeever)  28th/29thApril, followed by Tynan, Armagh.6th may -(Alwyn Morrison.) Then Randalstown ODE (Eddie Ingram) 26th May.

Edith Crawford (Pony Class), John Goodwin (Pony Pair) and Alwyn Morrison (Pony Pair) set a high standard, all obtaining a 37 in dressage. Alwyn’s score gave him a good footing as he took the honours in the Pony Pairs Class for the 3rd week running.
